Planning ahead

Now that I have returned from my trip to Nepal and more or less settled back down in New Zealand it’s time to plan out the remainder of the year and beyond. I can see two or three large trips on the horizon.
logoFirst, at the beginning of October, I like to walk the North Island section of “Te Araroa” New Zealand’s major long distance trail. I expect to walk the 1600 kilometers from Cape Reinga to Wellington in about 11 weeks and be back home for Christmas with the family.
I’m planning my second major trip for February 2018 going to South America. A very loose itinerary sees me flying to Rio de Janeiro for carnival than travel to Argentina and Chile for some hiking down south in Patagonia before heading north to Bolivia and Peru. This plan is in its infancy and likely to change a great deal before I go.
Then finally at the end of 2018, I’ll be going back to Nepal probably September to November and at some stage, my friend Dave will join me for a hike in the Everest Area.
Unfortunately other than bouncing between my homes in Whangarei and Auckland I haven’t got the faintest idea yet what I’ll be doing between now and the end of September although I’m sure something will come up.
